![]() Star Wars was, I think, a better story for not showing everything that was behind the curtain. The fall of Anakin Skywalker and the rise of the Emperor, the Clone Wars, the relationship between Han and Chewbacca there used to be so much mystery in Star Wars, but then they went back and filled in all the blank spaces. I have nothing against prequels, in theory, but I do think the Star Wars-ization of franchises is a mixed blessing at best. "Reboot" probably isn't the best choice of words. It's a prequel to Antiquities. Why does this feel like a copy+paste from the upcoming WotC digital survey? There does feel like something is missing, but I can't identify it. I think their execution in 2022 turned out better than if they had done it any earlier. It's an artifact set - color balance is irrelevant.Īs a long time MTG fan or a newcomer, how do you feel about The Brothers' War story in terms of its presentation in this set?īeen waiting for the play by play set of this story since 1994. It may even feel so small because it's part of a multi-part story and design intent across multiple sets (something that was recently seen among Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow, albeit implemented unsatisfyingly.) It's possible that it will play smoother and more consistently over time. BRO feels like it has a much smaller scope and purpose. It won't have as much of a flavor, art, or gameplay impact (IMHO.) NEO was a home run on multiple levels. Is it even better than Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty? BRO is all about Soldiers, Prototyping creatures, and artifact support/hate. Antiquities featured and promoted more artifacts than colored cards overall. It introduces some really narrow themes in a small scope, but overally, it's Antiquities 2.5: Creature Edition. It's not poor quality nor is it unfun to play with. r/magicTCG is not produced, endorsed, supported by, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast. ![]() Magic: The Gathering, including card images, symbols, and text, is © Wizards of the Coast, LLC, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. Standard will be a completely different game without meta-shaping cards like Goldspan Dragon, Expressive Iteration, Esika's Chariot, Runeforge Champion, etc. To me, at least, it was a really fun experience. ![]() Midweek Magic this week gave us a taste of new preconstructed decks from post-rotation Standard. An Alchemy 2023 queue could also include the upcoming Baldur's Gate expansion (releases July 7). The main difference this time around is that there isn't going to be a Standard 2023 set this summer, so the only sets in the queue would be both Innistrad sets, Kamigawa, and Capenna. The last few years, Arena introduced a Standard play queue in July that only allowed decks that would be Standard legal after the upcoming Fall rotation.
